UK-EU relationship shows deep cracks

New Year Brings Final UK-EU Brexit Split - Arise News

New Year Brings Final UK-EU Brexit Split - Arise News

While the situation at the Northern Irish border does not seem to become more sustainable due to a punctilious reading of the agreement by the European authorities at the border, it seems that the bloc is ready to push for the permanence of the activities of "disposal" of European debts and derivatives on the territory of the old continent.

After the transfer of a large part of the trading from London to Amsterdam and a temporary transfer of a good portion of the debt securities disposed of in the British clearing houses in Europe, the second one looks like a threat and an attempt to hold back the flow of money returned to EU territory.

This strategy has already been pursued during the negotiation process but with unsuccessful results, but now it could be more successful... for a limited period. In fact, the problem remains the lack of human capital, functional regulation, connections and real soft power that Frankfurt, Paris and Milan have at their disposal and the only truly ALLIED country that can really guarantee privileged access (and above all not interfere with the activities of the union) sits on the other side of the Atlantic and has been openly slapped by Germany, with the approval of France, with the trade agreement with China that, among other things, seems to be having some difficulties in implementation (we have no hope that the European Parliament will do the right thing by refusing to ratify it on its own without at least a push from Paris).

And this is where we get to the Northern Ireland issue. We don't think they are foolish enough in Paris to pull the rope until they see it break on the border issue but they will certainly wait until London finds itself staring into the abyss for good before letting go. The doubt now becomes whether this fairly risky strategy will not end up causing an insertion in Dublin, or worse in Washington, as has already happened with the attempt to block trade across the Channel (a phenomenon that, by the way, is not yet completely over).
